Luděk Mikloško arrived at West Ham United in February 1990 as a relatively unknown goalkeeper from Banik Ostrava in his native Czechoslovakia. He quickly established himself as a reliable last line of defence under manager Billy Bonds, stepping in during a period of transition for the club. His calm presence and shot-stopping ability helped stabilise the back line and played a crucial role in the team’s push for promotion back to the top flight in 1991.
